WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - San Diego State men's soccer forward Jordan Ongaro has been named Pac-12 Conference Player of the Week, the league announced Tuesday afternoon. The award is the first of his career. A native of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, Ongaro helped the Aztecs post a 2-0 record at the UCR/Courtyard by Marriott Soccer Invitational last weekend. The junior scored four goals and had one assist in two starting assignments. Against Nebraska Omaha, Ongaro scored the first goal of the game and finished his evening with three shots, all of which were on goal, for an SDSU side that emerged with a 3-2 decision. Two days later vs. North Florida, the forward recorded a hat trick in the first 38 minutes, 23 seconds of the game. Less than six minutes after scoring his third goal, Ongaro assisted on another as the Aztecs recorded a 9-0 victory. Ongaro enters the week with a career- and team-best six goals and one assist. Additionally, his 13 points to date equal his career high, which was established a season ago. San Diego State returns to action on Friday when it plays host to UNLV at Montezuma Road. First tap is set for 7:30 p.m. PT. |
