No. 27 SDSU Men's Soccer Upset at Stanford

PALO ALTO, Calif. -
SDSU junior Ata Ozbay (Barrington, Calif.) tied the game at 1-1 in the 20th minute off an assist from Abraham Villon. On the play, Ozbay ripped a 35-yard shot that knuckled past the Stanford goalkeeper Drew Hutchins.
The Cardinal, however, answered with goals in the 21st minute (Garrett Gunther), 34th minute (Felipe Noguerol) and 86th minute (Dersu Abolfathi) to pull away in the 4-1 victory. JJ Koval got Stanford on the board in the 16th minute.
Ozbay's goal was his fourth of the season. Additionally, Ozbay led San Diego State with four shots in just 50 minutes of action. Redshirt senior Pedro Adan (San Diego/Preuss HS) and sophomore Miles Byass (Highland, Calif.) each added three shots apiece, while senior Daniel Steres (Calabasas, Calif.) chipped in with two shots.
Aztec redshirt sophomore goalkeeper Blake Hylen (San Diego/Torrey Pines HS) has a game-high six saves in 90 minutes of action.
SDSU outcornered the home team, 6-4, while the Cardinal outshot San Diego State, 17-15.
The Aztecs meet 2010 NCAA quarterfinalist California at 2 p.m. PT Sunday.
MAN OF THE MATCH: Senior Daniel Steres (Calbasas, Calif.) earned Man of the Match honors for his play in the back. The co-captain won numerous balls in the air, while firing two shots over 90 minutes of play.
