SDSU's Aaron Goldberg Captures All-America Honors

June 8, 2007

SAN DIEGO - San Diego State's Aaron Goldberg (Encinitas, Calif.) has captured PING All-America honors for his performance during the 2006-07 season as announced by the Golf Coaches Association of America. Goldberg was selected to the honorable mention squad, becoming the first Aztec to gain All-America recognition since Lars Johansson accomplished the feat in 2001.

Goldberg, a La Costa Canyon High alumnus, was SDSU's top finisher in eight of 12 tournaments during the 2006-07 campaign, posting a team-best 70.71 stroke average, which ranked third in the Mountain West Conference. The Aztec junior led the squad with seven top-five finishes and 22 rounds below par en route to winning three MWC Golfer of the Month awards.

Goldberg also carded a team-high 12 rounds in the 60s and captured medalist honors at the District 7 Shootout in October after setting a school record for the lowest 54-hole total at 12-under par 201. With his effort, Goldberg propelled the Scarlet and Black to the first of three team titles on the season. He also notched a pair of top-five finishes to help SDSU claim consecutive tournament crowns at the Callaway Golf Invitational and Fresno State Lexus Classic in March.

San Diego State concluded its season last month after making its ninth consecutive appearance in the NCAA West Regional Championships.
