Thom Kaumeyer Accepts Defensive Coordinator Position At Tulane

Dec. 21, 2006

SAN DIEGO - San Diego State football head coach Chuck Long announced Thursday that assistant coach Thom Kaumeyer has accepted the defensive coordinator position at Tulane University. Kaumeyer, who coached the Aztec defensive backs in 2006, spent five seasons on The Mesa with the first four as the team's defensive coordinator.

"We're excited for Thom's opportunity to be a defensive coordinator again," Long said. "He's been extremely valuable in the transition and we appreciate what he has done for us this year. We wish him well."

A San Diego native, Kaumeyer will be a member of Bob Toledo's staff with the Green Waves. Toledo, who was the offensive coordinator at New Mexico this past season, was named Tulane's head coach on Dec. 11.
