CALIFORNIA BANK AND TRUST STUDENT ATHLETES OF THE WEEK IS FOOTBALL STAR Leon McFadden.

• Leon has enjoyed a stellar first six games of the season, tallying 30 tackles along with a team-high three interceptions, two of those were returned for touchdowns.

• This week Leon was named to Phil Steele's 2012 Midseason All-American Team as he joins the elite list of the top 15 defensive backs in the nation. He ranks second in the Mountain West in both passes defended and interceptions.

• Last year Leon earned first-team All-Mountain West honors for the second consecutive season, the first Aztec defensive back to do so in back-to-back campaigns since Will Demps in 2000-01.

• Leon is originally from Bellflower, California and is majoring in communications.
