SAN DIEGO - The 15th in a daily series during fall camp, get to know another Aztec newcomer. Today, a conversation with freshman running back Ramon Judkins (Los Angeles, Calif./Beverly Hills HS).

GoAztecs.com: Why did you choose San Diego State?
Judkins: I liked the city and I felt I could really grow on this team.

GoAztecs.com: What do you think of camp so far?
Judkins: It's pretty tough, but I feel like I'm getting better.

GoAztecs.com: How is practice different in college compared to high school?
Judkins: In college, you have to be a lot more focused. In high school you can get away with going 50 percent in some of the drills, but everyone out here is at the same level. If you don't have speed, you'll end up getting hurt.

GoAztecs.com: How are you surviving two-a-days?
Judkins: I'm doing alright. I'm getting used to it with waking up in the morning.

GoAztecs.com: What do you think of the city of San Diego so far?
Judkins: I really haven't been able to see much of (San Diego) except around campus, but I like it so far. The weather is good down here.

GoAztecs.com: What did you do over the summer?
Judkins: I just hung out with my friends.

GoAztecs.com: What do you plan on studying at SDSU?
Judkins: I'm probably going to major in business.

GoAztecs.com: Do you have any memorable moments from high school?
Judkins: My most memorable moment was when I got the game-winning tackle against Santa Monica High School in overtime.

GoAztecs.com: Did you play any other sports?
Judkins: I ran track. I only did the 100.

GoAztecs.com: What has running backs coach Larry Holton been working on with you the most?
Judkins: My conditioning. He makes me do a little bit extra every day after practice. He's also working on my vision and just getting me game ready.

GoAztecs.com: Who did you look up to when you were growing up?
Judkins: I looked up to my brother. He runs professional track and he's my inspiration to work hard. I saw that if he could do it, then I could go out and get a scholarship and do the same thing he's doing.

GoAztecs.com: What are your goals for this upcoming season?
Judkins: My goals are to be a team player. I want to get in the game when they need me and just do what I have to do for the team.

GoAztecs.com: If you were a contestant on American Idol, what song would you sing if you made it to the finals?
Judkins: Beautiful (You Are) by IMX.
