SAN DIEGO - The San Diego State football team wrapped up its fourth practice in five days on Saturday with a brief scrimmage at the SDSU practice fields.

"It was a good day today," Aztec head coach Chuck Long said. "I thought our team started off slow, a little lethargic from Friday, but they really ended it well. The big thing for us is that we can't wait until the end when we start the scrimmage to get the tempo going. I thought the way we ended was very good."

Long was back on the practice field Saturday, after spending a majority of the week in Illinois, where his father had major surgery a week ago Friday.

"He had a major stroke and although he is not awake yet, we are optimistic and hopeful that he will be able to recover," Long said.

San Diego State's next practice will be on Tuesday afternoon.
