Six home games, a road trip to Notre Dame and the 10th season of Mountain West Conference play highlight the 2008 San Diego State football schedule released Tuesday. The Aztecs, under third-year head coach Chuck Long, will start the 2008 campaign with four non-league games beginning Aug. 30, followed by eight straight weeks of league action.

The Aztecs play their four non-conference games over a five-week period in August and September. SDSU opens its schedule at home for the fifth time in the last six years when it plays host to Cal Poly at Qualcomm Stadium on Saturday, Aug. 30, at 5 p.m. PT.

The date with the Mustangs will be followed by back-to-back road games, including a trip to Notre Dame on Sept. 6, for the first-ever meeting between the Aztecs and the Irish, which will be shown live on NBC beginning at 3:30 p.m. ET.

San Diego State returns to California for a journey up north to San Jose State on Sept. 13, before having a week off to prepare for its final non-league game at home against Idaho at 5 p.m., as the two sides face each other for the first time since 2002.

The Aztecs kick off the month of October and 2008 conference action on the road versus TCU at 5 p.m. CT. The team's MWC home opener features a match-up with Air Force on Oct. 11, at 6:30 p.m. PT. SDSU plays at New Mexico on Oct. 18, and will look for its fourth straight victory over Colorado State on Oct. 25, at Qualcomm Stadium.

San Diego State splits November with consecutive road and home games, starting with trips to Wyoming on Nov. 1, and Brigham Young on Nov. 8. The Aztecs end the campaign with two straight home games for the second year in a row on Nov. 15 versus Utah and on Nov. 22 against UNLV.

All eight of SDSU's conference outings will be televised with the first seven on The Mtn. - MountainWest Sports Network, which is slated to launch on a nationwide basis on DIRECTV no later than Sept. 1. The Aztecs' regular-season finale against UNLV will be carried nationally on CBS College Sports Network.

San Diego State promotions and special events, including the KGB SkyShow and the annual Homecoming game, will be announced at a later date.

The Aztec football team continues with its second week of spring drills next Tuesday, April 8, at the on-campus practice facility.
