San Diego State Head Coach Rocky Long

Opening Statement...
"It's a great win. They play really well at home. They were 2-2 at home. They struggle on the road. We knew we were in for a battle. We didn't play worth a darn in the first half, on offense or defense. We gave up two long runs on defense and our offense couldn't put the ball in the end zone except for one long run by Ronnie [Hillman]. So, we didn't play again in the first half, but we were good enough in the second half, and showed enough character that we found a way to win."

On SDSU starting game slowly, working out...
"No, it's not. Who cares? We care. We try to address it every week. We talk about it every time. We try to train it, the early part of practice. I don't know why. On defense, that is the way we have been all year long. On offense, that's just a new phenomenon the last three or four weeks, so maybe they're taking their lessons from the defense."

On anything done differently in the second half...
"Well we made all these fantastic adjustments at halftime, because we are such really good coaches. (Laughs) No, we ran the exact same defense in the second half that we ran in the first half. We called a few things differently and adjusted one coverage. We didn't make a bunch of gigantic adjustments at half time. The kids just executed better."

On Ryan Lindley's play between the first and second halves...
"I think he is just like our team. I don't think our receivers were getting open and he wasn't very accurate with the football in the first half. In the second half, he made some really nice throws and the receivers made some really nice catches. The throw for the touchdown that kind of put us ahead to stay was really a nice catch by Dylan Denso."

On going for fourth down & not kicking, faith in Abelardo Perez...
"We were only three points ahead. I figured if they were going to drive it down and kick a field goal, and go to overtime. It was time for us to put the ball game away and give our team a chance to win it. Had nothing to do with Abel (Abelardo Perez)."

On reaching seven wins & confidence level...
"I don't feel confident at all. I told some people at the beginning of the week that it doesn't matter if we are 8-4, 7-5 or 6-6. I think it is just the luck of the draw."

UNLV Head coach Bobby Hauck Quotes

Opening Statement...
"Obviously this is a hard fought game, were hoping we could come out of here with a win tonight. Our guys were ready to play, they came out fired up, played very well in the first half and we just didn't finish the game. They kicked our tail in the second half and it was a dang shame because our guys did some good things. We came out and obviously struggled to find throwing game and we came out and tried to throw it some in the first half and had some success doing that. Ran the ball very well, but the second half was the flip side of that coin, we didn't do any of it well enough. San Diego State did a good job and they are credited with fighting their tail off in the second half and getting a win."

On not having [Tim] Cornett as much in the second half...
"Well we decided to go with him as the starter cause we knew their defense was a little risk reward. He had a little more home run capability he can out run people. the offensive line the young guys did a good job picking up a lot of their stuff and frankly Rocky Long says, they went a little more base second half our guys did a good job sorting it out. i like our other backs too, so I don't think that was the issue mark, we just didn't play well."

Did they do anything defensively that threw you guys off...
"No, they adjusted on the read zone stuff, they changed their responsibilities and we didn't handle it. fourth quarter we got it fixed but in the third quarter they changed how they were playing the read stuff and we didn't handle it.

On Ronnie Hillman's performance...
"He had a really good second half obviously he was predominately the power play. We did a good job with formations; I thought our guys got it lined up. We tackled pretty well for the most part, but you know he's pretty good. He's going to make you miss in there and he did a nice job of keeping up in there when he needed to and bouncing. We had a couple of integrity errors on the edge on two critical plays, on the first touchdown and one that set up the last touchdown when the game was still well within reach. I've got to do a better job of getting those young guys that are playing on the perimeter to hold up the integrity of the defense."

On defense getting worn down in the second half...
"I don't know., they do a good job. part of it was they had quite a few plays the second half where the first half our offense was ball controlled. but if you look at the second half i bet you the time of possession was slanted heavily their way, so that does take its toll on you a little bit."

On Kohorst's non-field goal attempt in the second quarter...
"I didn't think he could get it there. I thought that we had a good play. Little bit longer in terms of yardage then we would have wanted it, probably a yard longer, but I thought we had a good play and didn't think it was a great percentage field goal with the wind a little bit in his face. It was kind of go for it one way or the other."
