SDSU's starter at the beginning of the season but missed the Arizona and Tulsa contests with a sprained ankle suffered vs. USC...Came back against Hawai'i to run for 119 yards and a touchdown, followed by 173 yards and three TDs vs. New Mexico the next week... 1997: Started seven games and played in all 11 for the Aztecs ... By breaking the 1,000-yard barrier, he became the sixth Aztec back in seven years to run for 1,000 yards or more ... First sophomore to rush for 1,000+ yards since Marshall Faulk rushed for 1,630 in 1992 ... In his seven games as a starter, Lewis ran the ball 202 times for 992 yards (a 141.7 yard average),...Finished the season with the fourth highest yardage total in the league and was ninth in yards per game average (85.0) ... Lewis' 253 yard performance against Fresno State in week 11 tied for the eighth-best total in SDSU history and earned him WAC Player-of-the-Week honors ... 1996: Rushed four times for 28 yards in SDSU's opener against Idaho...Had his best game against Hawai'i, where he carried the ball a season-high 12 times for 59 yards...A standout on special teams, participating in 167 special teams plays...Made 13 tackles, including nine unassisted on special team.
