COACHING EXPERIENCE
- Al Borges has 23 years of service as an offensive coordinator at the NCAA level.
- In his first season at SDSU, he helped the 2009 Aztecs improve in scoring, first downs, total yards, rushing yards, passing yards, time of possession and third- and fourth-down conversion percentage.
- Under Borges, SDSU quarterback Ryan Lindley threw for over 3,000 yards and 23 touchdowns, while wideouts Vincent Brown and DeMarco Sampson combined for 1,629 yards and 14 scores.
- As the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Auburn from 2004-07, he was a part of a coaching staff that guided the Tigers to four-consecutive top-15 finishes in the final AP poll, including an undefeated season and a No. 2 ranking in 2004.
- Borges helped the Tigers compile a four-year record of 41-9 and post a 2-1 record in bowl games. He was tabbed the Offensive Coordinator of the Year by Rivals.com in 2005.
- In his four years as the Tigers' offensive coordinator, Auburn defeated 12 nationally-ranked opponents, including nine teams ranked in the top nine. Borges saw four of his offensive players earn All-America honors and eight players garner first-team all-Southeastern Conference accolades.
- Twice while at Auburn, his offenses averaged more than 32 points a game en route to claiming four consecutive victories over in-state rival Alabama.
- At Auburn, he coached SEC offensive player of the year quarterback Jason Campbell, All-America running back Carnell Williams and Pro Bowl running back Ronnie Brown. All three were first-round NFL Draft choices in 2005.
- Borges has also served as offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at three Pac-10 schools, California, UCLA and Oregon, and in the Big Ten at Indiana.
- While at UCLA from 1996-2000, Borges was twice a finalist for the Frank Broyles Assistant Coach of the Year award.
- Borges helped guide the Bruins to consecutive 10-win seasons and back-to-back appearances in the Rose and Cotton Bowls.
- Among the high-profile players he coached at UCLA was quarterback Cade McNown, who was an All-American, Heisman Trophy finalist and first-round NFL Draft pick.
- Coached with Aztec defensive coordinator Rocky Long at UCLA from 1996-97.
- Served as the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Boise State for two seasons and spent seven years at Portland State.
- Began his collegiate coaching career as the tight ends coach at California in 1982, followed by a three-year stint at Diablo Valley Junior College in Pleasant Hill, Calif.
- Was an assistant coach at both Salinas High School and Pleasant Valley High School.

- Graduated from Chico State with a bachelor's degree in 1981.
