SAN DIEGO -
San Diego State, winners of 24 consecutive games against teams from the state of California, looks to extend that streak on Sunday night when the Aztecs travel to Los Angeles to face USC. Game time is set for 7 p.m. PT.
The contest will be shown nationally on FOX Sports Net and can be heard on KOGO AM 600 and 101 KGB.
The Aztecs have not dropped a game to a member of The Golden State since Nov. 25, 2009. The current 24-game winning streak is 15 longer than the second team on the list (Kansas, 9) and is tied for the longest streak in the last 17 seasons.
In addition, the Aztecs are looking to extend a nine-game winning streak against teams currently in the Pac-12 Conference. That is the third-longest active streak in the nation, trailing only Kansas (16) and Connecticut (13). Last season, SDSU went 3-0 against the conference, defeating USC, Arizona and California
On Wednesday night, San Diego State clinched its nation-leading 21st consecutive winning month, counting months in which it has played a game, by defeating Arkansas-Pine Bluff, 79-43. The Aztecs never trailed and once again put on a defensive clinic, limiting the Golden Lions to 33.3-percent field-goal shooting, including 0-for-11 from three-point range. All-America candidate Jamaal Franklin posted his third consecutive double-double with 15 points and 12 rebounds. Senior guard Chase Tapley added 15 points on a season-high five three-point field goals. Tapley's classmate, forward DeShawn Stephens, posted his first career double-double with 11 points and a career-high 10 rebounds.
