SDSU Athletics Introduces 2013 Hall of Fame Class

SAN DIEGO - The San Diego State Department of Athletics welcomed a new class of five individuals into its Aztec Hall of Fame on Friday at Fowler Athletics Center.
The latest Aztecs to be enshrined include former men's basketball player Brandon Heath, women's basketball player Michelle Suman, football player Don Warren, track and field coach Charles "Choc" Sportsman and sailing athlete Mark Reynolds.
In addition, the five athletes will be recognized on the field during halftime of Saturday's home football game against New Mexico, which begins at 5 p.m. PT at Qualcomm Stadium.
The Aztec Hall of Fame inducted its first members in 1988, and welcomed a new group of legends every year through 1999. Inductions were put on hold for two years while work was complete on the Fowler Athletics Center, which is the first permanent home of the Aztec Hall of Fame. Including this year's class, 128 individuals have been inducted since its inception.
The following is a quick look at the newest class of the Aztec Hall of Fame:
Brandon Heath 2003-2007: SDSU men's basketball's all-time leader in scoring (2,189), field goals (749), three-pointers (281) and minutes played ... Was an honorable mention All-American and Mountain West Player of the Year as a junior in the 2005-06 season.
Mark Reynolds 1975-1979: A multiple-time Olympian, winning a gold medal in the 2000 Olympic Games ... A two-time Olympic Committee Athlete of the Year for sailing ... Named an ICYRA All-American in 1975 ... Inducted into the Sailing World's Hall of Fame in 2002.
Charles "Choc" Sportsman: Won two Division II cross country championships and a Division II outdoor track and field title as head coach at San Diego State ... His teams won the NCAA Division II cross country championships in both 1965 and 1966, as well as the 1966 NCAA Division II outdoor track and field championship ... Was also an assistant coach for the football team in 1947 ... SDSU's track and field facility is named in his honor.
Michelle Suman 1991-95: Left SDSU as the women's basketball program's all-time leader in consecutive starts (118), and blocked shots (251) ... Also held the record for most blocked shots in a single game (9) and season (87).
Don Warren 1976-79: A three-time Super Bowl champion with the Washington Redskins ... A fourth-round selection in the 1979 NFL Draft ... Had his best season at SDSU in 1978, catching 39 passes for 483 yards and four touchdowns.
