Franklin Named to Basketball Times All-District Team

SAN DIEGO - San Diego State junior guard Jamaal Franklin has been named to the West Coast All-District team by Basketball Times, the publication revealed in its April 2013 issue. The honor is the second regional award earned by the Hawthorne, Calif., native this season.
A 2012-13 NABC all-district performer, Franklin led the Aztecs in scoring, rebounding, assists and steals average, making him the only Division I player to lead his team in in all four categories. After helping SDSU to the third round of the NCAA tournament, Franklin completed his junior campaign averaging 17.0 points, 9.5 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 1.6 steals.
In 33 games, the all-Mountain West first-team selection scored in double figures 31 times and scored 20 or more points 11 times, including both NCAA tournament games. On the glass, the two-time Basketball Times all-district player reached the double-digit plateau 14 times, which helped him amass 13 double-doubles. He finished as the team leader in scoring 22 times, rebounding 25 times and assists on 16 different occasions.
The Aztecs are coming off their eighth straight 20-win season and their eighth consecutive postseason appearance where they picked up their third NCAA tournament victory in the last three years.
