For the second consecutive season San Diego State has advanced to postseason play as the Aztecs were one of 32 teams selected to play in the 2007 MasterCard NIT on Sunday night. SDSU will open play at Missouri State on Wednesday, March 14 at 9 p.m. CDT/7 p.m. PDT. The game will be televised by ESPNU.

San Diego State enters the NIT with a 21-10 record. The Aztecs have won eight of their last 11 games and finished Mountain West Conference play with a 10-6 mark. The Aztecs are led by senior guard Brandon Heath, who is averaging career highs in scoring (19.2 ppg), rebounds (4.0 rpg) and assists (3.6 apg). Last week, Heath earned first-team all-MWC honors for the second consecutive season. Senior forward Mohamed Abukar was named to the all-MWC second team, after averaging 15.9 ppg and 5.8 rebounds this season.

Missouri State comes into Wednesday night's contest with a 22-10 overall record and a 12-6 mark, good for third place in the Missouri Valley Conference.

This is the second straight season San Diego State has advanced to postseason play and the fourth time in the last six years. Prior to 2002, the Aztecs went 16 seasons with no postseason appearances. This is just the third time in 37 Division I seasons that San Diego State is making consecutive trips to the postseason (1975 and 1976; 2001-02 and 2002-03).

SDSU is making its third NIT appearance in school history. In 1982, the Aztecs lost to UC Irvine, 70-69, in the NIT, while San Diego State claimed its lone Division I postseason win in the 2003 NIT, defeating UC Santa Barbara, 67-62, in overtime, before falling at Texas Tech, 57-48.

The winner of the San Diego State-Missouri State game, will advance to play the winner of the Syracuse-South Alabama contest.
