Postgame Quotes from the San Diego State-Florida Men's Basketball Game

March 19, 2008

Recap |  Final Stats

GAINESVILLE, Fla. - Postgame quotes from the San Diego State at Florida men's basketball game.

San Diego State Head Coach Steve Fisher

On the game:
"We had a tough time making shots and our weakness is a strength of Florida's. They shot the ball, have shot the ball well all year and did it tonight. We would have to have played significantly better to have a chance. We have played better. Tonight we didn't and the results were what they were."

Junior Forward Lorrenzo Wade

On the end of the season:
"A season like this builds character. We have a lot of guys back next year. We have no choice but to get better. We'll do a lot of work in the off-season, and it shows with coach recruiting a lot of young guys. D.J. Gay helped us all season. So did Billy White. I'm looking forward to next season. This season is just a learning point."

On playing a young team like Florida:
"I never really thought about the fact that a lot of them are freshmen and sophomores. They're a well coached team and they played well tonight. It has nothing to do with age."

Junior Forward Ryan Amoroso

On his play:
"My play was not very good. My whole job was to come in and stop their front line and I failed to do that. It doesn't feel good that I let my team down."

On the game:
"I think for the most part the referees let us play tonight. Florida did a great job coming out running and executing with their head to the hole. Coach Donovan had them ready to go and it was pretty evident."

Florida Head Coach Billy Donovan

On the team:
"I am really proud of our guys. Their work ethic and commitment was on trying to improve, and continue to get better over the last four days. It was great to see them come out and work on the defensive end of the floor. I thought we played against a very talented team. (Ryan) Amoroso, from Marquette, and (Lorrenzo) Wade from Louisville. They are both great players. I thought our guys really focused in and had a great disposition and mind set. It was good to see them get rewarded for their hard work over the last four or five days and I'm very happy for them."

Freshman Guard Nick Calathes

On the team:
"I think we played really well together. We've been feeling each other out and we always have each other's backs. That's what we have been working on in practice and it is helping on and off the court. We just keep getting better and better. We are nowhere near where we want to be at right now at this point in the season, but we are getting better."

Sophomore Forward Dan Werner

On the team:
"I am proud of my teammates. We came together over the last couple of days and put a lot of work in. We found out what we were made of and came out tonight and showed it."
