San Diego - San Diego State junior left-handed reliever Royce Ring, a member of the USA Baseball national team this past summer, has been named a second team preseason All-American by Collegiate Baseball newspaper.

Ring, a native of San Diego who attended Monte Vista High School, was an all-West Region and all-Mountain West Conference first team selection last season. In 32 appearances out of the bullpen (37.2 innings), he compiled a record of 6-2 with nine saves and a 1.19 earned run average while striking out 45 and walking only eight.

In 10 appearances with the national team during the summer, he recorded one save with a 0.93 earned run average.
