San Diego - San Diego State first baseman Rielly Embrey has been named to the Verizon Academic All-District VII Baseball Team for 2003. The team consists of 11 players (four infielders, three outfielders, catcher, two pitchers and designated hitter).

Embrey, a junior from Poway, Calif., (Poway HS) is a kinesiology major who has a 3.98 cumulative grade point average over his three years at San Diego State.

This season, he is hitting .269 and leads the team with seven home runs. He has scored 25 runs in his 46 games played with 26 RBIs. At first base, he is fielding .993 with only two errors on the year.

Embrey is currently on an eight-game hitting streak during which he is hitting .379 (11-for-29) with eight runs scored, six RBIs, a double and two home runs.

The Aztecs are in Provo, Utah, this weekend to take on Brigham Young in a three-game Mountain West Conference series beginning Thursday night at 7:00 p.m. (MDT).
