Baseball Season Opener In Hilo Postponed

Jan. 23, 2004

Jan. 23, 2004

Hilo, Hawai'i - San Diego State's 2004 baseball season opener against Hawai'i-Hilo has been postponed due to inclement weather. Rain, lightning and thunder throughout much of Friday made the field at Francis K. Wong Stadium unplayable.

Plans call for the teams to evaluate the conditions on Saturday and hopefully play one game in Hilo that afternoon. If the bad weather persists, the entire series may be moved over to Kona on the east side of the island of Hawai'i.

The series will also now be five contests instead of the originally schedule six. After Saturday's single game, doubleheaders would be played in Kona on both Sunday and Monday, with Monday's start time to be determined.
