SDSU 2002: Split time behind the plate with senior Brian Manfred and also saw action in left field…Began the season with a seven-game hitting streak during which he went 9-for-26 (.346)…Had a pair of doubles with two runs batted in vs. Nevada on Feb. 23…That contest marked the start of a five-game streak during which he hit .533 (8-for-15) two doubles, a triple and five runs scored…Batted .333 over the course of the season with runners in scoring position…Went 6-for-16 (.375) with six runs scored in games in which he played in the outfield...Hit .333 in Mountain West Conference play and did not commit an error in 32 chances…Went 2-for-3 with a pair of doubles in the Aztecs’ exhibition contest vs. Lake Elsinore Storm, the Class A affiliate of the San Diego Padres…Also threw out one base runner on an attempted steal in that game.
Junior College: Played two seasons at Grossmont (junior) College under coach Ed Olsen...Named first-team all-Pacific Coast Conference as a sophomore... Batted .345 average with 39 runs scored, 10 doubles, nine home runs and 41 RBIs in 44 games...Hit .392 in 25 league games with 30 runs and 28 RBIs...Best game came against San Diego Mesa when he went 4-for-5 with two homers (including a grand slam) and seven RBIs...Voted Grossmont’s Most Improved Player...Honorable mention all-conference as a freshman.
