Reporting Violations

Reporting a Violation

All San Diego State University Athletics Department staff members, student-athletes, students, and university employees are obligated to report any violations or alleged, rumored, or suspected violations of NCAA, Mountain West Conference, or SDSU rules or policies. Moreover, representatives of the university's athletics interests, members of the community, and prospective student-athletes must report any violations or alleged, rumored, or suspected violations.

Individuals may report the alleged, rumored, or suspected violations orally or in writing. Violations may be reported anonymously.

Violations may be reported to any of the following individuals:

  • Jay Larson, Assistant Athletic Director of Compliance
  • Jim Sterk, Director of Athletics
  • Jenny Bramer, Associate Athletic Director/Senior Woman Administrator
  • Patrick Papin, Faculty Athletics Representative
  • Sally Roush, Vice President of Business and Financial Affairs

Any university staff member who in good faith reports an alleged, rumored, or suspected violation will not be subject to retaliation from any person employed by the university.

Investigations and Self-Reporting Violations

The Athletic Compliance Department is responsible for conducting investigations in conjunction with the Director of Athletics, the Faculty Athletics Representative and the Office of Vice President of Business and Financial Affairs.

If a violation has occurred, the Assistant Athletic Director of Compliance will file a self-report to the NCAA and/or conference office.
