Initial Eligibility Checklist:
___ Register with the NCAA Clearinghouse:
In order for a prospective student-athlete to be eligible to compete in any sport at San Diego State University, they must first register with the NCAA Clearinghouse. All prospective student-athletes must be certified by the Clearinghouse prior to participation in intercollegiate athletics.
The Clearinghouse materials can be found online at:
http://www.ncaaclearinghouse.net/ncaa/NCAA/student/index_student.html, or they can be obtained from your high school Guidance Counselor, or the coach who is recruiting you from SDSU
The following information must be sent to the Clearinghouse:
1. Completed and Signed Student-Release form
2. All high school transcripts (include ALL high schools you may have attended) and MOST importantly your final high school transcript - to show proof of graduation.
3. SAT/ACT scores
It is important to register with the Clearinghouse as soon as possible. The process of certification takes time. Early registration will assure a timely process of your application.
___ Requirements for NCAA Initial Eligibility:
The NCAA Clearing house will determine whether a prospective student-athlete is a qualifier or a non-qualifier. In order to be certified as a qualifier the following requirements must be met:
1. Graduated from high school.
2. Successfully completed the required number of core curriculum courses in high school:
Prospects entering college on or after 8/1/2003:

3. Earned a minimum G.P.A. in those required core courses (above).
Note: A prospects core curriculum G.P.A. can be different than their overall high school G.P.A. NCAA Clearinghouse uses only the prospects core curriculum G.P.A. in determining whether they are a qualifier or non-qualifier.
4. Earned the minimum required SAT or ACT test score that corresponds with a prospective student-athletes G.P.A.
*** Note: San Diego State University and The Mountain West Conference do not accept Non-qualifiers.
___ Follow up with the Clearinghouse:
Do not automatically assume that you are certified. It is the responsibility of the prospective student-athlete to submit the necessary documents and to follow up with the Clearinghouse until you receive your written certification.
