"It's a
great
move for
the
baseball
program.
There's
probably
only one
other
conference
we could
go to
that has
the
quality
of ball
played
in that
league.
It means
we've
really
got to
step up
our game
now. The
Big West
has
teams
that
have
gone to
the
College
World
Series
and won
it.
Teams
like Cal
State
Fullerton
and UC
Irvine.
Long
Beach
State...they've
been
among
the best
in the
nation
the past
several
years.
It's an
unbelievable
position
for us
to be in
to be
able to
compete
against
those
schools
regularly.
If
you're
going to
make a
move for
baseball,
it can't
get much
better
than
going to
the Big
West." |
 |
"Golf is
a little
bit
different
than a
lot of
sports,
in that
we make
our own
schedules
and
don't
have to
face
other
conference
teams
prior to
the
league
championships.
That
being
said,
I'm
friends
with a
lot of
the Big
West
coaches
and I
have a
lot of
respect
for
them. It
will be
a good
opportunity
for our
program
to
continue
to grow
on the
national
level.
From a
business
standpoint,
this
move [to
the Big
East and
Big
West]
will
help a
lot of
our
sports." |

"The
move to
the Big
West
Conference,
as well
as the
Big East
for
football,
will
make our
athletic
department,
as a
whole, a
better
one. In
women's
golf,
the Big
West
champion
earns an
automatic
bid to
the
NCAAs
and
every
other
tournament
we play
in is
really
based on
relationships
between
coaching
staffs.
We
regularly
compete
against
current
members
of the
Big West
and
we're
looking
forward
to doing
so more
often in
the
years to
come." |
 |
"We're
excited
for a
new
challenge.
The Big
West is
an up
and
coming
women's
soccer
conference.
They
have
established
itself
as a
nationally
recognized
league
and
we're
looking
to add
to its
recent
success.
This is
a great
opportunity
to
create
more of
a fan
base for
us in
California.
Our fans
will be
able to
follow
us and
attend
more of
our road
games." |

"We are
excited
to be
joining
the Big
West
conference.
The Big
West has
been a
perennial
powerhouse
in
softball
and we
look
forward
to
renewing
some
interstate
rivalries.
Additionally,
I'll get
the
opportunity
to go
back to
my old
stomping
grounds
(Cal
State
Fullerton)." |

"I'm
excited
about
the
teams
that are
in the
Big West
and
getting
to
compete
with
them on
a
regular
basis.
There
are a
lot of
great
programs
in the
conference
and
we're
looking
forward
to
renewing
some old
rivalries
and
starting
some new
ones." |

"I'm
excited
and I
know our
team is
excited
to
become a
member
of the
Big West
Conference.
They are
perennial
powers
on the
national
scene,
evident
last
year
with two
bids
into the
NCAA
Tournament.
We
already
have
established
rivalries
within
the
conference
and we
look
forward
to
challenging
the
members
for a
league
championship." |
 |
"The
women's
tennis
program
is very
excited
to come
back to
the Big
West.
We have
great
respect
for the
Universities
that
make up
the
conference
both
academically
and
athletically,
and we
look
forward
to
raising
the
national
profile
of the
Big West
Conference,
both on
the
court
and
off." |

"For us
it's an
exciting
deal in
that we
have a
huge
opportunity
to grow
our
program
by
joining
the Big
West.
We're
joining
an
extremely
competitive
conference
that is
improving
from top
to
bottom
every
year.
With
Hawaii
joining
next
season
as well,
it
really
ups the
strength
of the
league.
We tend
to play
a lot of
those
teams
every
year
now, so
we know
them
pretty
well.
It's
really
good for
the
sport of
volleyball
and for
our
program
to join
the
conference." |
 |
"Our
Aztec
water
polo
program
has a
strong
record
of
success
against
teams in
the Big
West
conference,
and
those
teams
are
consistently
among
the top
10 teams
in the
nation.
I
believe
that
joining
the
conference
will
mean
that our
program
will be
in the
hunt for
a Big
West
conference
championship
and an
automatic
berth to
the NCAA
championship.
With the
Big
West's
inaugural
bid to
the NCAA
tournament
coming
just
last
season,
the
conference
will
continue
to see
high
level
competition,
depth
and
parity
among
teams.
We are
excited
to join
such a
deep and
balanced
conference
where
every
single
game
will be
highly
competitive
and very
meaningful
in terms
of our
post-season
opportunities." |
