Release
Mick McGrane of the San Diego Union-Tribune, "With injuries having depleted the Aztecs' defensive line depth through
the first two weeks of fall camp, Jerome Long has heard opportunity's knock and thrown open the door. A Cal-Hi first-team selection
who had 68 tackles and 4½ sacks last year at Morro Bay High, Long shunned Oregon and Washington for the opportunity to play
immediately at SDSU." Today's Clips
John McGrath of The News Tribune, "But of the 10,500 athletes in Beijing, only one is capable of making a long-term
impact on a sports team close to your heart. Only one could team up with Felix Hernandez to give the Seattle Mariners the most
formidable starting duo of young pitchers since Tom Glavine and John Smoltz became twin anchors for the Atlanta Braves. Meet Stephen
Strasburg, a junior-to-be at San Diego State and the lone amateur on the U.S. Olympic baseball team."

David King of the Houston Chronicle, "Strasburg's fastball reached 95 mph, and he added an occasional slider in the
high 80s and a curveball that dropped into the 70s. "That kind of pitching works against anyone," U.S. manager Davey Johnson said."
