You can keep up to date on Aztec Football fall camp at the Vote2008 Fall Football Central page. Yesterday's updates include a prractice report from the first day of camp as well as question and answer session with freshman long snapper Aaron Brewer.
Kevin O'Connell made his debut with the New England Patriots last night and led the Patriots on their only touchdown scoring drive of the night in a 16-15 loss to Baltimore. O'Connell was 6-for-13 for 57 yards and one interception. He also carried twice for 22 yards and was the second leading Pats rusher on the evening. Most of the accounts agreed that O'Connell enjoyed the best evening of the three New England quarterbacks that played.
Kansas City Chief wide receiver Jeff Webb caught a pair of passes for 29 yards in a 24-20 victory over Chicago.
Christopher Gasper of The Boston Globe, "The most promising of Brady's backups was (Kevin) O'Connell, who entered the game late in the third quarter and generated some excitement with his legs - he rushed twice for 22 yards, including a 15-yard scramble for a first down on a drive that ended in a field goal - and led the Patriots to their lone touchdown, a 1-yard run by LaMont Jordan (19 rushes, 76 yards) with 6:07 left that pulled them within 16-15."
Mick McGrane of The San Diego Union-Tribune, "If San Diego State's three-day stay at Camp Pendleton was designed to culminate in building cohesiveness while underscoring the importance of teamwork, it also elicited a fair measure of awe."
Scott Bair of the North County Times, "(Right tackle is) one of several position battles being waged at the Aztecs' camp, where youth outweighs experience by a significant sum. Precious few returning starters are present, meaning several jobs ---- especially on the offensive side ---- are up for grabs."
