The Mountain West Conference announced Wednesday that 23 San Diego State student-athletes have been named to the fall 2005 academic all-MWC team. To be eligible for selection, student-athletes must have completed at least one academic term at the member institution, while maintaining a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better and be a starter or significant contributor to their team. Ten of the 23 Aztecs honored came from the women's soccer team, including kinesiology major Mariko Strickland (Anahola, Hawaii), who earned a 4.0 grade-point average. The women's volleyball team had five student-athletes make the list, while the women's cross-country and the football teams had four student-athletes each.
