The AAF Annual Fund Drive represents the organization's primary campaign to raise $5 million for athletic scholarships. Led by an outstanding group of AAF staff and volunteers, the Annual Fund Drive begins promptly in January, and lasts until late December each year.

The task of raising funds is divided among several volunteer Fund Drive Teams, each led by a Team Captain. Each team is responsible for appealing to a certain number of individuals. Special recognition is bestowed upon those teams and fundraisers with the best performance.

The San Diego State Aztec Athletic Foundation raised a record $1.5 million for student-athlete scholarships during its 2006 Annual Fund Drive. 2006's grand total surpassed the previous total of $1.3 million set in 2005. It also marks the sixth year in a row that the foundation set a new record for donations (based on donations received as of 12/31/2006.)
